We're a few former and current college students (
University of Rochester,
Hofstra,
BU, and
Northeastern). When we first moved here, we found it
a little difficult to find good apartments and rental units. Craigslist
is basically the main place to go, but it's a huge dumping ground (no
offense!) for everyone, and it's a little tough to search. Moreover,
it's got a lot of duplicate listings and fake ads. We thought it would
be nice to have a website just for the Boston area that helped other
college students and renters find the best apartments and rentals for
their situation.
And here we are!
Thanks for asking! Here are a few of the differences we think are
important:
- Standardized listing format, with pictures, prices,
bedrooms/bathrooms, and general location
- Very few (if any!) duplicate listings
- Up-to-date and accurate information (we update our information at
least once a day)
- A ranking system to find apartments and rental units you'll
probably like best
- Simple, fast, and free to use (well, there's another big website
like this, too)

Are
you guys making money on this website?
Not yet, but websites are pretty cheap these days. We're more concerned
with being useful. If we can help out our fellow college students, new
Boston residents, and other renters, we'll be very happy. After that,
we'll worry about how to earn enough money to pay for the Web server and
network traffic, but that's a secondary consideration at the moment.
